Possessed

Slamming the book on the table he got to his feet.

“Nothing can really be possessed. It’s just told to scare kids!”

In the mirror, he saw the door slowly creaking open.

“We can possess anything,” his sister’s doll said from the doorway.

His blood turned to ice as he heard the doll’s ominous laugh.

He opened the door and looked at the petite woman sleeping on the bed. His eyes shifted to the little child in the cradle.

Gliding to the armchair, he sat down and reminisced his past as a trickle flowed down his cheeks.

The creaks roused the lady. She screamed on seeing the empty swaying chair.

Doppelganger

Jack walked alone on the rickety bridge.

The weak structure let out a moan.

Jack turned to see a running figure which looked just like himself.

In motion, the figure slipped on a plank and went over the railing.

Jack ran- an attempt to save the figure; only to meet the same result as it.

PS: The figure which Jack sees is a Doppelganger. A Doppelganger is a paranormal double of a living person. It also describes the sensation of having glimpsed oneself in one's own peripheral vision with no chance of the supposed phenomenon having been a reflection. A Doppelganger is regarded by some to be a harbinger of bad luck and in some traditions, a Doppelganger being seen by a person's relative or friend portends illness or danger, while seeing one's own Doppelganger is said to be an omen of death.

Her beady eyes shone in the bright light, as her hair danced in the wind.

Mary found the petite figure near the garden slide, and pranced away with it.

Mary came back with a teapot, and offered her a drink.

She smiled, and her eyes blinked as she ingested the tea.

Mary screamed and ran.
