Far Away

I’ve been searching high; I’ve been searching low,
Shoving light into the crevices around,
Pushing through the haze surrounding me,
Rubbing my eyes incessantly to work under fire,
Battling the hot onslaught trickling down my cheeks,
Just for a single glance, just to know you're fine,
Just a smile, your smile, only to know you're happy,
I wish the thundering in my head would be softer,
I wish the knot in my stomach would loosen up,
I wish I had you, just with me, to keep as mine,
It’s so faint, the line between longing and belonging,
Your voice is the map; your words are the coordinates,
All leading me to a place I’m familiar with,
A look into my eyes would say it all, stories altogether,
A look into my heart would tell it all, values,
A look into my soul would tell it all, a mirror for you,
But I’m heading back to where I came from,
Well, that’s just far away from you.

Once Again

I walked away from the feeling,
The emotion overpowering me, silencing me,
My courage dwindled in front of my eyes,
Just the sight of you tearing through the will I had,
Words said breaking all I have, and all I had,
Dreams built on the whims of our presence,
Just for you, all made by you, for me to settle into,
You are a drug so strong I can’t believe you exist,
Your thoughts are my penchant,
Worrying, harrying, caring, that’s all I can do,
My words don’t flow when the jewels drop in your sparkling voice,
I stand awestruck, for your being is sheer good luck,
The promises we made bind me to you,
The moments we shared keep you close,
The memories we have will never be tears in my eyes,
All I want forever is you,
It’s a road I have walked on, a path I have bled on,
It’s a way guarded by the shadows of my past,
Tiny and narrow, yet so large in sight,
I may have set foot again; I cringe in the spotlight,
The crevices too small for me, again,
As the first drop spills, I know it’s not yet time,
It’s not yet time to walk the road once again.

Tsunami

It’s not the words which cause the pain,
It’s the silence which engulf the peace,
It’s not the darkness which hurts the eyes,
It’s the blinding light which tears through,
A story unsaid yet a dream come true,
Drowning in the undertow of the waves,
Gasping for breath and reaching out to the skies,
The whole life playing itself back in a second,
All those moments, all those memories,
I will forever remember your face,
Moist in the light and your eyes asking me why,
It was never you- the reason to stop,
It was only me trying not to drown in your tsunami.

Alvida

Kuch aadatein hai jo jaati nahi,
Kuch pal hai jo vapas aate nahi,
Uss chupi hui hasi ka khilna,
Jaise baarish mein lehrate ful,
Unn samundar ki lehro mein haath dhare chalne,
Aur kandhe pe rakhkar sar unn aasuon ko dabana,
Par bass chuka hai sirf tumhara chehra inn aankhon mein,
Aur voh aakhri shabd jo kaha tumne- alvida.

Kho jaana hai firse mujhe tumhari aankhon ke andheron mein,
Beh jaana hai firse tumhari yaadon ke khazane mein,
Jeena hai firse unn lamho ko,
Jo karib hai dil se, jo paas hai mann ke,
Hai waqt ka dariya samaya hua hatheli mein,
Nahi hai toh sirf ek- tum,
Khoya hun tumhari duniya mein,
Aa jaate voh pal fir se, agar kaha na hota alvida.

A Wait For Eternity

She snug in beside him and her heart warmed as she saw his face break into a smile. Even with his eyes closed, his fingers found hers in the cover of the thin sheet, and as she gazed at him, he delicately toyed with her fingers in the darkness, till it consumed him. A light smile lit her face up, and her eyes, a bit glistened with the hint of moisture. It hadn’t been long since she had been the mirror image of what she was right now, and it was all due to time. Times had changed so fast, and in such a way that her life seemed to have reached the zenith and was stranded in the ecstasy of the moment.

Slowly picking her hand out of his, she dabbed at her eyes and shaped his face with her other hand. With a final glance, she held back her hand and walked to the window. It had been the same time that day, just a couple of calendars earlier; the days had all changed, and so had the nights. They had flowered into the times she dreamt off, the moments she had envisioned, and the memories she had wished to create for herself. Her life had transformed into a heaven from the purgatory it had been.

The streams of light shone in the distance, buzzing around at speeds unimaginable as she stood alone at the balcony. It was more than a year since she had walked away from Sam, but there he was, etched in memory and in the scars she hid from the world on her heart. Her gaze was unperturbed, as her mind reeled on and on, working agonizingly hard.

"It’s not that I need someone, but it would be so good to have someone pull me back from the whirlpool of my thoughts. Someone to just hold me as I would fall into the safety of his arms, and just lie back with no worries," she said to herself with a sigh.

Nostalgia ran through her, racing with the cars on the road, as the first drop broke free from the confines of the curtain of her eyes.

“I so wish...I so wish...”

“What happened sweetheart? Why are you crying, and what do you wish for,” asked Chirag, his hands wrapping around her waist, slowly turning her to face him.

“Nothing Chirag...just had a bad day...you sleep darling...”

"I’ll wait up for you...come soon,” he replied understandingly with a tight hug to her.

The dreams she had had, had come true, and she just wished it would never end. She never wanted to be so alone, like she had been, 2 years ago on the same day; she just wanted him to be hers; she just wanted to smile. She had waited a long time for the wait to end, and now, it had ended on a high note. With a minute shake of her head she slipped in beside him, her hands finding his before his did to hers, and turning her head slowly, she met his lips with hers, savoring the moment and the memories it would cultivate, all with time.
