There she stands...

There she stands,
Her shoulders aching with the weight forced on her,
Dusty and sooty, dirty and grimy,
It tires her out, with its growing weight.

There she stands,
In the midst of the emptiness,
Alone and miserable in the solitude of the darkness,
But never does she say a word.

There she stands,
With the ruins as her only silent company,
Creaking and shuddering with the years of neglect and unseemly use,
She still holds herself together.

There she stands,
Letting out her breath in small inaudible gasps.
Wanting to end her beautiful journey on a high,
And she waits for the precise time and the perfect moment.

There she stands,
With the clock ticking above her head,
The sun setting and the moon rising,
All in the presence of the incoming wet guests.

There she stands,
Under the massive rumbling,
There comes the torrent and tugs on her.
Sucking on her will and her strength, it makes her slide.

There she stands,
With her feet in the wet mud,
As she loses her balance, she looks to the sky,
Into the wetness of the shower, and for the only time in her long life.

And then, there she falls.
