A Face To Remember

Far away in the distance yet so very close,
You flicker in the light of my life,
Just an outline yet so distinctly solid,
I see you for a moment and then not for many,
Vigorously volatile yet warmly welcoming,
Your arms open for sanctity, a haven for peace,
A stadium of hope, an arena for will,
A monument of support, you stand tall against my shoulder,
Not to lean but to steady, you vanish with time,
A hand to clasp in times of need,
A face to remember in times of sorrow,
A smile so catastrophic, eyes twinkling like gems,
The warmth spreading around with stirrings churned together,
If life was a cakewalk without the strain,
For me, you'd be the cherry on top.
