A Midas' Touch

“So what do you want me to do Suraj?”

“Nothing. Nothing at all. Everyone here is my responsibility and I will do my duty as demanded. You don’t need to think about it at all.”

“Just tell me what I did dear; what is my mistake?”

“The mistake is mine; it was a big mistake to marry you for god’s sake,” shouted Suraj as he walked out of the room, as his wife, Garima broke down into a pool of tears.

It was almost a year of their marriage, but their bond had been prospering for half a decade prior to that. Today was a special day, but Suraj had seemingly forgotten about it all, in all his work tensions. Facing a crunch at work, Suraj was faced with a lot of anger management issues, as was seen when Garima asked him jokingly to buy her a diamond necklace for the party in the evening.

The clock turned at its own pace for Garima, who sat alone on the bed, unable to bear the burden of what Suraj had said to her; whereas for Suraj, the day passed just as it would. As the clock struck six, the doorbell rang, and Garima rushed to open the door.

Their eyes met for a second, and without waiting for even a second, Garima turned and began walking.

“Can I talk to you for a minute Gari,” began Suraj, as Garima halted in her tracks.

Without turning, she replied in a curt voice, “I’m all ears.”

Going towards her, Suraj slowly enveloped her in his arms, as his lips glazed her cheeks. His right hand reached into his pocket and with the other, he turned so that he could face his better half. Seeing the gleam on the band, made Garima’s eyes well up with the wet seeds of happiness.

“This isn’t what you wished for, but for now, this is all I can give you. I hope you don’t mind, dear; it’s just a display of my love for you. I’m terribly sorry for what I said in the morning…”

“I know you are, and this wasn’t needed,” said Garima, her fingers running through the brand new bracelet Suraj had brought.

“There’s always a cheaper option sweetheart, but this one wasn’t bad enough,” she went on.

“Oh damn, so you were joking when you said you wanted that necklace?”

“Yeah, I just wanted to toy with you, just spend time with you; I wanted to hold you, to melt in your arms; just flow back to those times when we were in college. I just wanted that passion to return, just enough to rob you of your stress; but I’ll have to make do with a tiny I love you.”

“I love you too…”

“Now let’s go get ready for that party, Mr. Mehta. We can’t skip it, can we,” asked Garima in a sweet voice.

Picking her up, Suraj said, “We can be late though, nobody mentioned that.”

In the race of life, we forget that the simplest of things can reignite the sparks in a relationship, be it a hug, or just a passionate peck. A relationship isn’t only about living through the important moments; it’s about how you use the smaller events to spread the love and passion. You can check Nimrat and Parambrata’s story here.

I Wish

We all have wishes, and the list of these wishes never ceases. From our vehicles, to our food, to our television programs, to the songs we listen; we all have choices, and we always work to satisfy them, come whatever may. Our most frequent desire surfaces for our home, and whenever we visit any one’s home, we return with our eyes filled those decorative pieces which we plan on using the next time we revamped our home.

Practically, that is an uphill task, with time being the biggest concern, and it all ends with some paint, a new wardrobe, and some petty appliances which affect our life in a mammoth way. There I was, blogging myself out, when I came across this site which left me awestruck. Literally, my eyes popped out of their sockets at what I was seeing, and then I began writing this.

To give a basic introduction of what I was seeing, Porcelanosa Grupo is a Spanish company which mainly believes in the human values of innovation along with quality. They have showcased this ideal of theirs in the evolution they have done with time, going from just ceramic tiles to a whole range of home décor products, the same which made me lose my head.

Enough of all the intros, and now let’s get down to all that I would love to have in my dream home. The list is, to be frank, quite censored and limited. (Greed isn’t a good sentiment at all, isn’t it?)

Pioneers set the base and establish the level which determines the progress of the market. With Porcelanosa Grupo beginning their journey with their Ceramic Tiles collection, I thought of beginning from there too.

With the brown hue scattered with the darker brown, in shades, light and dark, blending together to adorn my walls, I knew this was the one as it just appeared on the screen. With their appearance being so tenderly similar to that of one of my loves, chocolate; I was sure that their presence would be a must in my home. Some more chocolate would do, and the feeling it flow beneath my feet would be a feeling worth cherishing.

With chocolate in my mind, I glimpsed a section all about the Kitchen and Kitchen Furniture. Food being my first and last love, I guess I could spend my whole life in that roomful of food, eating, and creating new wonders, at least trying to; with just a computer to blog my heart out too. The best kitchen isn’t the one which cooks the best food, it’s the one which is organized and can be worked in without facing any hindrances. Spacious, yet compact, and easy to manage, the Arcilla Mate and the Acero was the combination I set upon. With the finish so exquisite, simple yet so posh and modern, there would be no other option to look at for me.

Thoughts are the seeds which lead to the germination of our dreams, thus fruiting into the aims we work towards.

Now quoting Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones, “A mind needs books like a sword needs a whetstone if it is to keep its edge.”

The only purpose is not to talk about reading and thoughts; it’s about peace of mind. On a personal front, it is the silence of the night, and the tranquility of the shower which makes my mind race such that only the most creative ideas remain. The night is mine to reign, but the latter is something which can be decorated and made beautiful so as to sooth the eye, and push the brain.

Minimal. The name chosen by Porcelanosa Grupo for the bathtub which called me towards it. It made me desire it; a dream come true, with the calm to enjoy a book with the water lapping against me. That is an experience worth to live for. How those thoughts would race in the mind and come out as a river of words. I so wish.

Natural Stone, with the backdrop and the arrangement invoking thought in itself, this is surely a view to die for. Thoughts and ideas- good is a degree too minute to describe them at that place.

The images enough to enhance your thought and to make you crave for the same, I guess it’s time to leave you to explore the Porcelanosa website, and to make you wish for all that I did. For more details, you can visit the website (http://www.24kliving.com/). The dream of having the best at home, is now going to come true with Kolte-Patil Developers and Porcelanosa.

A Clean Tomorrow

We live in a very diverse nation. We have all kinds of people, living in all kinds of conditions, with vivid desires and needs. I had done a research some time ago, and I came upon the fact that our Tier-2 cities are responsible for around 60% of demand of consumer goods. That quite signifies that the wants of people are being satisfied, but what about the needs?

A large population, with a large proportion being women and children, demands for a lot from the government. It is the fundamental right of each and every citizen to have every need satisfied by the management of the nation, but is it practically possible to check every single person's needs in a nation of 2 billion people? That's not possible even in our dreams.

But then, what exactly is the way out? Then come those NGOs and those people whose wish is just to serve the nation and its people, in a way that it leads to the overall development of both. But they can tackle problems at the pace of a mere tortoise, and that too a place at a time, due to their tiny bag of resources, unless the people unite for them, and work with them.

India is an agricultural nation and even though we say that people go hungry, it is malnutrition which impacts the common man more. The absence of the basic requirements of sanitation and clean water supplies leads to people coming up more easily against ailments, and also not obtaining the nutrition level required by the body.

With global warming taking its toll on the weather, the provision of clean water to the entire populace is a task which makes impossible seem easy. But yes, sanitation is something we can work to provide the whole nation, to the men, to the women, to our children, to our parents, to our grandparents, and to anyone and everyone who lives in this nation.

This is what Domex works in doing. Their survey shows that there are still 597 million people struggling to obtain the most basic level of sanitation in our nation, and there are villages embedded in our development which do not even have closed washrooms. Their new campaign works with the people in order to provide these underdeveloped villages with clean environments to let out the harmful wastes of our body, and to protect themselves from the numerous diseases which roam around in the muck and grime.

But is it only their responsibility as a mammoth brand to think about what people should get from life and this country? Do we not have a basic responsibility, not only as Indians, but firstly as humans, to work towards a better tomorrow, where every person at least has a dignified way of cleaning their innards?

It doesn't end here with me blogging this, and then rushing off to enjoy a movie or a treat, while those people out there crave for their necessities. We have a social responsibility, and we must contribute to such causes with our heart and mind wide open. The Domex initiative has till now brought about a noticeable change in several villages in Maharashtra and Orissa, and their aim is to build up to 24000 toilets by 2015, their main places of concern being those faced with the dirty issue of open defecation. They have also launched a website where you can contribute and also have a thorough look at their stories and how they have benefitted the lives of so many.

You can show your support for this campaign by just clicking on the Contribute tab on the Domex website (http://www.domex.in). For each click, Domex will contribute Rs. 5 towards the initiative, thereby allowing multitudes to live a dignified life.

Just So English!

It’s not just a language,
It’s a native art,
You can’t force it to appear,
It just erupts from the heart.

Delicately placed together,
We have those million words,
Alphabets in formation,
Just like a flock of birds.

Some mean the same,
Though some are opposites too,
It’s just about the usage,
Remembering meanings you’ll rue.

Intricate, exquisite, yet vivid,
It helps us enjoy the world,
To describe every moment, every detail,
Be it a straight drive or a free kick curled.

It’s violent and gory, at times,
And sometimes it’s so cool,
Every emotion has its presence felt,
This language is more than just a tool.

It’s weird when it’s forced,
Even with the makeup, it looks artificial,
Dwell into the details, that’s what it’s for,
Highlight every element, don’t be superficial.

Build-ups, start-ups,
They all have the next part,
It’s those stops, and holds,
Which make the language so smart.

We are just the medium, minute,
A statement that is so pun-y,
I guess that’s why people say,
English is a language so funny.
