We live in an age where all of life sprints
in the fast lane. Accompanied by the gadgets provided by technology, people are
adjusting to this pace and lifestyle at a fastidious rate. In reality,
everything is now just a race; a race to win, a race to earn, and a race for
success. As more and more of the populace gets attracted to participate in this
race, the other factors which used to influence major decisions of life in the
yesteryears now decline. One of the most important of the factors being ignored
is the one concerning health. Stress levels and health problems are continually
hiking at horrendous speeds and I feel the factor causing most harm is the
ignorance of their health by people. This increasing danger has been catalyzed
by the increase in consumption of fast food and other junk food as well. But is
gorging on fast food really that harmful? In my opinion, consuming fast food is
not a really bad option in the current world. And this point of view of mine
rests because of the following reasons.
As the topic of fast food is first
introduced, the only thought which comes in a person’s mind is the major havoc
it wrecks in people’s stomachs. Fast food is something which is not at all
nutritious and only does bodily harm to a person’s body. This statement has
been hammered and etched into people’s brains and it would take a lot of energy
to displace it. But this misconception is not entirely true. In the sense of a
dietician, any food consumed from sources other than home is harmful to the
human body. So, why should we blame the whole of this crisis on the placard of
fast food?
In the current hyper-speed world, the
creation of the new vermin of stress has also emerged. Stress is one of the
main causes of harm to the body. It erodes and seeps the life out of a human
body in the most unimaginable ways. It tires people out and wears them out of
shape until they are beyond repair. But, this predicament has been accepted by
society as a side effect of the development and the whole of the crisis of
harmed health has fallen on shoulders of fast food. So, it can be said that
fast food is a quandary, but it is along with other issues as well.
But there is a completely different point of
view which remains uncovered. This is also a coin which has 2 sides. And I am a
follower of the other side.
Inflation has hit the world at an alarming
rate after the global recession; this rise has been mostly due to the rise in
prices of staple foods. Adverse weather conditions and strange occurrences in
the monsoons and other seasons have taken their toll on crops and this has been
a major factor in the hike of prices. At this time, fast food is the cheapest
available substitute for tasty meals. Fast food is successful in providing a
filling meal with plenty of taste and that to at a very meager cost. It is
available in almost all of the stores in the form of frozen pizzas, chips and
burgers.
Fast food take-away meals are a blessing in
disguise for people living alone and even for those who toil extremely hard for
the whole day. Instead of cooking up a full meal after a hard day at work, a
person would prefer staying hungry. This would serve to be more harmful than
grabbing a pack of fast food and gobbling it up.
On the whole, fast food is not completely
harmful. It is true that it does contain calories and can cause harm to the
body. But, in reality, there are other substances which we ingest that can cause
more harm. This helps us conclude that health problems do not have their cause
at only the doorstep of fast food. In fact fast food helps us save time and
also works to save money and in return provides us with prolific taste. And it
is the other problems that cause more harm, in comparison with the ingestion of
fast food, which has more pros than banes.
Fast Food to some extent yes...But we can't have it everytime and I think that makes our taste buds become numb.. :-P
