Foul or Folly?

As the ball came in, he felt a slight nudge, and a sly idea popped into his mind.

As he went down dramatically, the whistle blew and the card rose into the air.

The men in red and white protested as he feigned pain in his ankle.

Yellow triumphed.

Master-class acting or just bad refereeing?

This is written on the disputed penalty decision by the Japanese referee in the opening game of FIFA World Cup 2014.

  1. It was not a penalty, and the penalty somewhat robbed the match away from Croatia.
Brazil were good, but had it not been given a penalty, who knows!

    1. Yes that's very true..the Spain penalty decision was also somewhat shaky...
But then, humans do make mistakes..and in the WC, the pressure gets to the referees as well..

  3. I think it was a judgement call. Croatian player did hold shoulder of Brazilian player. Brazil carries certain weight in the world soccer like Australia does in cricket. As a result they get some leeway. Never mind the goal Brazil would have won anyway.
